Alzheimer’s & Brain Health Awareness Month 2025

Alzheimer's Patient & Daughter sitting in a gardenJune is Alzheimer’s & Brain Health Awareness Month, a vital time to shine a light on Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias, which impact over 55 million people worldwide. Designated as a month for education, discussion, and action, it addresses the growing global challenge of these conditions, marked by the official color purple. This month encourages everyone to learn more about the signs and risk factors, advocate for research, and recognize the importance of support for those affected and their caregivers. It’s a call to raise awareness about the public health impact and foster a compassionate community response.

Getting involved is simple, starting with wearing purple and sharing your story with #ENDALZ on social media. Promoting brain health through exercise, a balanced diet, and cognitive activities is another impactful way to contribute, alongside engaging in conversations about the disease. At Erwin Health Care Center, we take pride in providing specialized memory care for those suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementias, offering personalized support, engaging activities, and a safe, nurturing environment to enhance their quality of life. Acknowledging and supporting caregivers also strengthens our collective effort to create a brighter future.

Erwin Health Care Center is hosting an Alzheimer’s Support Group on June 17, 2025, from 3:00-4:00 PM. Courtney Pierce from Gentiva will be facilitating the group, which will begin with some information regarding Hospice care.
